Spread Garden Supplies is to close its depot at Haveringland, Norfolk on 4th August 2006. Spread extended its distribution to commercial growers by opening the Norwich depot in 2004, with the acquisition of the assets of Nursery Trades.
The poor trading conditions over the last two years and spiralling distribution costs have forced Spread to refocus its business. Spread has decided to pull out of the commercial horticulture market and concentrate on the retail sector. The closure of Norwich will mean that East Anglia will no longer be serviced. However, Spread's remaining depots at Thatcham, Beckford near Tewkesbury and St Helens continue as normal. |
